P
aul Kelly, a New York-based studio musician whose work debuted in the 1999 blockbuster film Any Given Sunday, has just released his first full length CD, Soundings In Film (Liquid Chicken Publishing/ASCAP)

Kelly's web site, at paulkelly.com, was launched in 1999 and has steadily built a following of fans from all over the world who patiently awaited his current release. In addition to attracting more commercial and film score work, Kelly-whose main instruments are guitar and bass-hopes to introduce his music to an even wider audience.

Kelly's musical style is filmic and ambient, similar to that of artists like Brian Eno, Angelo Badalamenti, Daniel Lanois, and Robbie Robertson (who contributed to one of Kelly's tracks entitled Peace on the Any Given Sunday soundtrack). For the first time, Peace-a weightless ambler that accompanied Al Pacino's speech about life being a game of inches-can be found on Kelly's Soundings In Film without Pacino's dialogue over it. Peace is clearly a fan favorite, however many more songs on this CD have the potential to become popular in a number of genres: new age, pop, ambient, world.

While Kelly is an American artist, many of the songs have universal appeal, and are likely to resonate with overseas audiences. Some are laced with Asian, Eastern and American Southwestern influences, while others have a techno feel.

Soundings In Film is currently available through Amazon.com, CDbaby.com, and iTunes as well as many other digital download sites.
